Self-Compassion Gifts for Educators

Self-compassion is an essential practice for educators, especially during a difficult school year.

Self-compassion reminds us that it’s okay when things are hard. It invites awareness to what we are feeling with kindness and a reminder that we are not alone in our experience.  The practice of self-compassion is about supporting ourselves when it is hard!

AND this year has been hard on educators!

Self-compassion is a practice – so the more we do it the better it will resonate.  As my kiddos say, practice makes permanent, not perfect!  Let’s all be perfectly imperfect human beings these days and share the practice of self-compassion.

I’ve put together a little list of self-compassionate gifts you might consider giving a teacher you love this holiday season.  I love supporting educators who are doing great work sharing care and compassion.

Want more self-compassion support for teachers in your school community? Book a self-compassion workshop for your next professional development event: Learn more here.

Also, other than my book which I share I make no money on any of these suggestions.

Self-Compassion for Educators by Lisa Baylis

A perfect gift (if I do say so myself) for the educators in your world.

This book will help teachers develop greater compassion for themselves and others so they can reduce feelings of shame, criticism, and self-doubt and build resiliency inside and outside the classroom.

I’ve Got What I Need Card Deck by Delayne Rayne

One of the reasons I love using cards so much is because I find them to be extremely accessible. With our minds never busier and our attention never pulled in more directions, creating pockets of stillness in our day that provides rest to our bodies and minds is incredibly healing for our nervous systems.

Because the cards are tangible, interacting with them invites a lasting moment of mindfulness into your immediate experience.

COMPASSION IT Wristbands

These black and white reversible wristbands prompt compassionate behaviour and sever as a conversation starter. Each time you act with compassion towards others or yourself, you flip the wristband.  Research indicates that compassion makes you happier and healthier.

Wristbands come in pairs so that you wear one and share one, and your purchase supports compassion education programs.

Present, Not Perfect: A Journal for Slowing Down, Letting Go, and Loving Who You Are

For all my journalers out there – this one’s for you. This is a daily way you can start including yourself in your circle of care. Through daily reflections and practices, this workbook guides its users toward building self-compassion, releasing self-doubt and more. Give yourself permission to be Present, Not Perfect.
