Creating time and space

Thursday, 6th July 2017

It’s July… and I don’t know about the rest of you but all of a sudden my mind and body turned to mush and suddenly nothing got accomplished.

As educators, we live in busy days and work hard for that well-deserved summer holiday.

My thoughts this summer are all about this concept of well-being and establishing routine and practice in looking after myself.

What would it look like if we practiced this summer making space for thirty minutes a day to restore, re-energize and reflect on how we feel.

Collapsing at the Finish Line in June

Wednesday, 21st June 2017

As we are coming to the end of another school year, I am noticing that June is filled with bleary eyed educators collapsing at the finish line.

2×10 is essentially an adult taking at least 2 minutes to talk to a student up to 10 times about something that is meaningful and positive to the student to help build a… Continue reading…

What are you missing?

Saturday, 7th May 2016

This weekend I had the privilege of sitting in silence with twenty five educators from the Greater Victoria School District.   We have all embarked on an 8-week mindfulness journey where we meet once a week for two hours to meditate and learn about mindful living.   This weekend was our meditation retreat after completing 6 weeks so far of being together.

Led my local mindfulness instructor, the lovely Stephanie Curran, we escaped deep into the beautiful sanctuary of West Saanich and had the opportunity to sit in silence for… Continue reading…
