AWEsome Wellbeing Educator Retreat

Thursday, 24th August 2017

The AWEsome Wellbeing Educator Retreat is happening on September 30th in Victoria, BC.

September is a busy month for educators. We often fill our days with time for everyone else but too often forget to look after ourselves.

We can’t be in a school in our fullest capacity to teach kids if we’re not in our fullest capacity ourselves. Happy teachers practice self-care.

This is an invitation to come practice heart-centred self-care.  Give yourself permission to nourish your body, find stillness in your thoughts and reconnect with the habits of wellbeing.

Running for wellness

Saturday, 15th July 2017

This past school year was a tough year for me, and the worst part was nothing really bad happened.  I came back to work last September tired and weary and said yes to everything – the wants, the shoulds, the “have to’s” which left me feeling resentful.  I was emotionally vulnerable which was causing strain in my relationships and left me feeling weary and tired.  And, then I had two hard falls, which injured me quite badly and left me in constant pain.  Physical pain, emotional weariness, and an overall… Continue reading…

What would it look like if we practiced this summer making space for thirty minutes a day to restore, re-energize and reflect on how we feel.

Collapsing at the Finish Line in June

Wednesday, 21st June 2017

As we are coming to the end of another school year, I am noticing that June is filled with bleary eyed educators collapsing at the finish line.

We end up looking more like the owl on the right than we expect.

What is it about a full school year that leaves everyone — students, teachers and administrators — exhausted and weary and struggling to finish the year with energy?  So often, educators are givers.  We give so much of ourselves, our time, our energy that by the time we… Continue reading…

Advice for our Grads

Thursday, 1st June 2017

When I was a new mom the best piece of advice I ever got was, “the days are long but the years are short” and now, in June,  as my baby girl is finishing Kindergarten, I wonder where all the time has gone.

As educators, during this time of year,  we are watching our students transition out of our classes and into summer – sometimes we may never see them again.  This is a nostalgic time.   For me, as I watch another year of “grad babies” finish… Continue reading…
